Listings Per Hour

How many items should you list on eBay per day?

6 min read

The right number of eBay listings a day is your listing hours times your listings per hour, as long as your buying keeps up. For example, at 12 minutes a listing, two hours a day gives you 10 listings, and 100 a day at that pace would take 20 hours.

How do you work out your daily listing number?

Your daily eBay listing number comes from two measurements and one check. Time how many minutes a listing takes you from prep to published, decide how many hours you'll list on a normal day, and multiply. Then check the result against how much you buy, because listing faster than you source empties the shelf.

  1. Time a normal batchMinutes per listing, prep to published. How long a listing takes shows how to time it.
  2. Turn it into a rateSixty divided by your minutes is your listings per hour.
  3. Pick your real hoursThe hours you'll list on a normal day. Not your best day.
  4. MultiplyRate times hours is your daily number.
  5. Check it against your buyingWeekly listings should roughly match weekly buying. Buy more than you list and a pile grows.

How many hours do 5, 10, 30 or 100 listings a day take?

The hours behind a daily eBay listing target are arithmetic: listings times minutes each, divided by 60. At 12 minutes a listing, 10 a day is 2 hours and 30 a day is 6. The table uses three example speeds so you can find the column closest to your own timed number.

101 hour2 hours3.3 hours
303 hours6 hours10 hours
505 hours10 hours16.7 hours
10010 hours20 hours33.3 hours

Source: arithmetic. The three speeds are examples, not benchmarks. Six minutes is a batched pace on repeat items. Twenty is close to what sellers on eBay's Community boards reported for one item photographed, measured and written from scratch. Time your own.

Individual sellers who answered "How many items do full time sellers list daily?" on eBay's Community boards reported anywhere from 1 to 50 a day. One reported 150 to 200 in about four hours when fully focused, and one team of four reported 150 to 300 a week between them (read September 23, 2026).

Getting to 100 a day comes down to four levers: near-identical items, templates, more people or software. At 6 minutes an item it's still a 10-hour day before anything is packed.

How many listings should you have live on eBay?

The number of eBay listings you need live comes from the sales you want and the share of your live listings that sell in a month. Divide one by the other. Say you want 30 sales a month and about 1 in 5 of your live listings sells in a month: you need around 150 live. Your daily number is whatever keeps that stock topped up.

Use your own share, worked out from your sales and live listings over the last month, not a number from a forum. The 1 in 5 above is an example picked for the arithmetic.

Does eBay reward listing every day?

No eBay help page we read for this site says it does. You'll read elsewhere that listing daily keeps your store visible in eBay search.

Steady listing still pays, for plainer reasons. Your live inventory grows, your pile shrinks, and a daily habit is easier to keep than a weekend marathon followed by two weeks of avoiding the shelf. Set a weekly total you can repeat and spread it however your week allows.

Aim for a weekly total you can keep up, not a daily number you can hit once.

What caps your number besides time?

Time is only one cap on how many items you can list on eBay a day. The others are what you can buy, the cash to buy it, the space to store it, the time to pack what sells, and eBay's own selling limits. Whichever runs out first sets your real number.

  • Sourcing. You can't list what you haven't bought. List faster than you buy and the shelf empties, so the daily number falls on its own.
  • The pile. Buy faster than you list and the difference stacks up into a pile of unlisted inventory.
  • Shipping. Every sale needs packing. More listings live means more orders, and that time comes out of listing time.
  • Space and cash. Inventory waiting to be listed takes shelf space and money that isn't earning yet.
  • eBay's selling limits. eBay sets monthly selling limits on accounts. You'll find yours in Seller Hub on the Overview tab, and you can request an increase when your selling performance is strong. Good 'Til Cancelled listings count toward the limit.

When your own hours are the cap, the choices get bigger: a hired lister, higher-value items, or an AI step. Scaling without hiring walks through each.

What raises the number fastest?

Raising your listings per hour grows your daily eBay number without taking more of your day. At 12 minutes a listing, an extra hour buys 5 more listings. Cutting 12 minutes to 8 buys the same 5 inside the 2 hours you already work, and it keeps paying every day after.

  • Batch by station. All the prep, then all the photos, then all the typing. The listing assembly line explains why that saves time on every item.
  • Find your slowest station. A time audit shows where the minutes go.
  • Stop retyping the same things. Templates and defaults cover policies, shipping and boilerplate.
  • Cut the typing step. Typing takes an experienced seller 4 to 7 minutes a listing, by FlowLister's figure. FlowLister (we make it) does that step in about 30 seconds from photos, and you publish it in one click. Whether it nets out for you depends on your review time, which the throughput calculator lets you set.
How many items should I list on eBay per day?
As many as your listing hours times your listings per hour allows, as long as your buying keeps up. At 12 minutes a listing, 2 hours a day is 10 listings. eBay's selling limits are monthly, not daily, so start from your own timed speed, not someone else's.
How many listings a day is full time on eBay?
There's no official figure. Individual sellers answering this on eBay's Community boards reported 1 to 50 a day, and one did 150 to 200 in a focused four-hour stretch. The hours matter more: 30 a day at 12 minutes each is 6 hours of listing before sourcing, packing and shipping.
How many hours does it take to list 100 items a day?
At 6 minutes a listing, 100 a day is 10 hours. At 12 minutes it's 20 hours, more than one person can do. Getting to 100 a day means cutting the minutes per item, listing near-identical items, or adding people or software.
Is it better to list every day or in batches?
Batch the work and publish on a schedule you can keep. None of eBay's help pages we read say daily listing is rewarded. Batching by station saves setup time on every item, and your weekly total is what grows your live inventory.
Does eBay limit how many items I can list?
Yes. eBay sets monthly selling limits on accounts. You can see yours in Seller Hub on the Overview tab and request an increase when your selling performance is strong. Good 'Til Cancelled listings count toward the limit.

Disclosure Listings Per Hour is published by the team behind FlowLister. FlowLister takes the typing off your listing time: it writes the eBay listing from your photos, with the title, item specifics, a price from sold listings and shipping, in about 30 seconds, and you publish in one click. It's AI, so it misses things. We make it, so read this as a disclosure, not a recommendation. Everything else on this site works without it.
