eBay drafts: where to find them and how long they last

6 min read

eBay drafts are listings you started but haven't published. You'll find them under Manage drafts on a computer, or Selling in the eBay app. eBay deletes each one 75 days after you last edit it.

Saving a listing to finish later works until later arrives. By then the draft can be hard to find, or eBay has already deleted it. Finding one is a matter of knowing which menu. Getting a deleted one back may not be possible, so the second half of this page is about not losing them.

Where do you find your eBay drafts?

On a computer, go to Manage drafts, a page in Seller Hub (eBay's seller dashboard), or to My eBay. In the app, go to the Selling tab.

  1. On a computer, open Manage draftsGo to Manage drafts in Seller Hub and sign in if asked.
  2. Or look in My eBayMy eBay holds drafts too, at this drafts address.
  3. In the app, go to SellingTap the Selling tab at the bottom of the screen, then Drafts, then See All (step by step). No Drafts button? Open Selling overview and scroll the top row to the right (a 2026 reply). Menu names change between app versions, so look for the word Drafts.

How long do eBay drafts last?

A draft expires 75 days after its last edit, and any edit starts the 75 days again. The Expiration date column on Manage drafts shows when each one goes.

One seller says just opening and closing a draft keeps it alive. eBay's rule counts from your last change, so make a real edit.

How many drafts you can hold depends on the tool you build them in, per Seller Center. If you list from the eBay app, you're on the quick tool and the lower number applies.

Draft limits by listing tool
Where you build the draftDrafts you can save
The quick listing tool, on eBay.com and in the appUp to 250
The single and bulk listing tools for businesses, inside Seller HubUp to 5,000

One wrinkle: Seller Center's FAQ still words the rule as counting from creating a draft, while its update and eBay's help page count from the last edit. If they disagree, believe the Expiration date column.

How do you delete an eBay draft?

Delete from the same place you find drafts: the arrow beside Resume draft on a computer, or Edit and the trash icon in the app.

  1. Computer, one draftOpen Manage drafts, click the arrow beside Resume draft, and choose Delete draft (a Community Mentor's answer).
  2. Computer, several draftsTick the check box beside each draft, open the Actions menu and choose delete (another Mentor's answer).
  3. In the appGo to Selling, then Drafts, then See All. Tap Edit (some app versions show More Options instead), tick the drafts, tap the trash icon and confirm with Yes.

Why did my eBay draft disappear?

Check the date first. A draft nobody edited for 75 days is gone. If yours is younger than that, sellers report four other causes.

  • It lived in a listing tool, not on eBay. Drafts built in CrazyLister stay there until you publish them, and eBay's own drafts don't import (CrazyLister's help article).
  • You tapped Discard in the newer app flow. One seller says Discard deleted the whole draft, and a second agrees (August 2026 thread).
  • An eBay-side problem in early 2023. The seller who started that thread says eBay support called it a known technical issue and couldn't guarantee the missing drafts would be restored (2023 thread).
  • A recent edit didn't save it. One seller says only two of six to eight drafts were left though each had been edited ten days earlier (September 2024 thread, no replies).

None of those threads found a way to get a draft back, so prevention is the plan. Our view, not eBay's: treat Discard as Delete in that app flow, and publish drafts well before their expiration date, since sellers in a 2023 Selling thread say drafts sometimes just vanish. If yours is gone anyway, ask eBay support and give them the date you last saw it.

Why does eBay email you to finish a draft you don't remember?

Open your drafts page and delete it. That was the Community Mentors' fix in both threads: one seller got the emails without remembering starting a draft, and another thought eBay had turned a search into a listing. Neither thread says how the draft got there. One known route: when you finish scanning a trading card in the eBay app, eBay creates a draft of the listing.

How do you use drafts as a listing queue?

A finished batch can wait as drafts until you publish it. That is the listing assembly line at work: our guide to splitting listing work into stations, such as writing and publishing. A draft isn't live, so the listings-per-hour guide says not to count it.

Two limits can catch a queue: the draft cap and the 75-day clock. Say you add 20 drafts a day and publish 15, oldest first. The numbers are made up, the arithmetic is yours to check.

A made-up example: 20 drafts added a day, 15 published a day
QuestionArithmeticAnswer
How fast does the queue grow?20 - 155 drafts a day
How long until it hits the quick tool's 250-draft cap, starting empty?250 / 550 days
How long does the last draft in a 250-deep queue wait?250 / 15about 16.7 days
How deep must the queue be before the last draft waits 75 days?75 x 151,125 drafts
How long until the queue is that deep, starting empty?1,125 / 5225 days

Same habits, different wall. On the quick tool you hit the cap first, with no draft close to 75 days old. On the business tools the 5,000 cap is out of reach, and the clock is what starts deleting drafts at the back of the line.

Rule of thumb, ours and not eBay's: divide the drafts you have waiting by the listings you publish a day. If the answer passes 37.5 days, half of 75, stop writing and publish. Not sure of your rate? The throughput calculator turns your minutes per station into listings per hour. A queue that grows faster than you publish is the death pile in draft form: inventory arriving faster than it gets listed, with the difference stacking up.

Today: open Manage drafts, find the draft with the earliest expiration date, and publish or edit it first.

Questions people ask about eBay drafts

How long will eBay save a draft?
Until 75 days after you last changed it. Change it again and the count restarts.
How to see drafts on eBay?
On a computer, use Manage drafts in Seller Hub or My eBay. In the app, use Selling, then Drafts.
What happened to my eBay drafts?
Most likely they went 75 days without an edit. If not, sellers report Discard wiping a whole draft in the app, an eBay problem in 2023, and drafts that lived in an outside listing tool.
Is there a way to recover deleted drafts on eBay?
Not that we found. Save your photos and text before you delete.
Why isn't my eBay listing showing up?
If you saved it but never published it, it may be sitting in drafts, so look there first, then in your other listing views. If it was published and later hidden, eBay's help page has a section on removed or hidden listings.

Disclosure Listings Per Hour is published by the team behind FlowLister. FlowLister takes the typing off your listing time: it writes the eBay listing from your photos, with the title, item specifics, a price from sold listings and shipping, in about 30 seconds. It's AI, so it misses things. We make it, so read this as a disclosure, not a recommendation. Everything else on this site works without it.
